Description: Durrus (Durrus Óg) is an Irish cheese created by Jeffa Gill in 1979. This semi-soft cheese is made from pasteurised cow's milk in Durrus village, Bantry, Ireland. This round shape cheese with powdery pink-orange rind is very famous in West Cork as one of the finest artisanal farmhouse cheeses. It is ideal on a cheeseboard and melts incredibly well in cooking. It goes well with dishes like tartiflette, pasta dishes, baked tartlets etc. The smoked version called Durrus Smoked is also a semi-soft, ripened rind cheese made from pasteurised cow's milk. It has a mild, oak-smoked flavor with creamy sweet notes. Both Durrus and Durrus Smoked have won several awards in Ireland and UK.
